These days you really need to consider having some kind protection on your computer against viruses such as a Trojan horse or even a worm. You can get a trojan horse on your computer from an email attachment. There's great virus protection programs out there such as Norton's or Avast. To protect my computer from getting any viruses or worms, I use Avast. Once you picka virus protection program to run on your computer, you need to make sure to be downloading the latest updates to insure you are getting the maximum protection. But, beware even if you have the best virus protection out there; it is STILL possible to get any virus or worm from the internet. Once a virus, worm, or any other malware gets into your computer, it can literally take over your whole entire computer system. You might end up losing some or sometimes all essential information that you have stored on your computer. In order to save yourself from losing any important data on your computer, invest in a back-up hard drive that has a lot of memory on it; so that you can store a lot of information from your computer. Before buying a back-up hard drive for your computer, please make sure to do your research from the internet. Opt for a brand that you have heard of, rather than one you haven't because like it has been said before, " You get what you pay for." Of course, if you try to be frugal and buy a cheaper brand, it might just break in a shorter amount of time, then the more expensive hard- drive you could have bought at your local electronics store.
